James "Bankey" Blackwell Obituary

James (Bankey) Alan Blackwell, Sr., passed with beloved family by his side on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the age of 73.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Page Blackwell, his loving children, Jamie, Stephen, and bonus dad to Heather, Trent and Jason. Bankey has two sisters, Deborah Zandy and Teresa Fountain. He was the proud GranBankey to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his special nieces and nephews who were so dear to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew (Ander) James Blackwell and Eva Mae Blackwell, his sister-in-law, Kim Solomon.
 

He enlisted in Marine Corp Reserves obtaining the rank of Lance Corporal. Bankey had a passion for sports, and as a child, he spent many afternoons playing baseball, basketball, and golf. He graduated from Whiteville High School and attended Southeastern Community College. He retired from West Fraiser Sawmill in Riegelwood, NC. He enjoyed family and had many lifelong friends.

Visitation will held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in Peacock Funeral Home.


A funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm on November 17, 2021 in Smyrna Baptist Church in Whiteville,NC with Pastor Ronnie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
