Mr. James H. "Jim" Blackman 82, of Lake Waccamaw, NC passed on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at his home. He was born February 13, 1939 in Columbus County, the son of the late Earlie Blackman and Lillie Bright Blackman.
Mr. Blackman retired from BB & T. He received a BA degree from Wilmington College. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dora Smith Blackman; two daughters, Amy Malpass of Hallsboro and Jaimee Blackman and husband, Jamie Welch of Hallsboro; a sister, Betty Sasser and husband, Irvin of Lake Waccamaw; grandchildren, Kristie Soles and husband, Danny of Oak Island, Natalie and Lillie Malpass of Greenville, NC, Marley and Josephine Welch of Hallsboro; great grandchildren, Isaac , Trey and Laney Soles of Oak Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Ray, and Billy Blackman; a son-in-law, Eddie Malpass.
His funeral service with military honors will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Hallsboro United Methodist Church by Chaplain Sam McCleary and Rev. Judy Billings. Burial be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to his service at the church.
