James William Short Obituary

James William Short, 72, of Whiteville passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.  He was born November 11, 1947, the son of the late Curtis Ray Short and Betty Ann Widener.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Doris Jeanette Schlenk, Lelia Faye and Lavonna Sue Short, a loving sister-in-law, Martha Carole Short and a very special nephew, Timothy Scott Short.

Jim was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He was a lifelong mechanic who worked with his brother and family at Short Bros. Auto Sales for 37 years.  He was a talented woodworker and avid biker that loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. 

He is survived by his finacé, Linda Bradshaw; brothers, Ray Short of Whiteville, Charles Short and wife, Diana of Georgia; sister, Anne Campbell and husband, Mike of Tennessee; nieces, Christy Stocks and husband, Jeff of Whiteville, Carrie Burney and husband, Todd of Whiteville, Tifani Letcher of Tennessee, Christina McCall of Georgia; nephews, Greg Campbell of Tennessee, Ernest Short of Georgia; great nieces, Morgan Short, Allison Short, Jennifer Stocks, Ashleigh Stocks and Jolie Burney.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to a dear friend and caregiver, Nancy Norris.

Out of respect for our family and friends; due to the unique circumstances of travel restrictions and health concerns, a private graveside service will be held.
