Kenneth Earl Gore

Mr. Kenneth Earl Gore 82, of Nakina passed on Monday June 21, 2021 in Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center, Wilmington, NC.  He was born April 2, 1939 in Columbus County, the son of the late John Henry Vanderbilt Gore and Mary Ella Gore.

He was a loving husband and father and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a long time member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He retired from the NC National Guard after 22 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane McCumbee Gore; two daughters, Yolanda Cox and husband, Alvin of Nakina, Paula Gore of Nakina; a brother, Paul Gore of Ash, three sisters, Delores McCumbee of Ash, Shelby Linton of Thorntown, IN, Esther Moses of Nakina; grandchildren, Kendra Strickland and husband, Jonathan of Clarendon, Sheena Cartrette and Allison Cox of Nakina; great grandchildren, Xander Cartrette, Isaac Cartrette, Kenley Strickland and Cruz Strickland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Hazel Gore, Cecil Gore, Verna Gore, J. C. Gore, Billy Ray Gore, Waymon Gore, Wade Gore and Brooks Gore.

His funeral service with Military Honors will be at 2:00 pm Friday, June 25, 2021  at Bethesda United Methodist Church by 
Rev. Slade Skipper and Pastor Sheena Cartrette. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  

His family will receive friends one hour prior to his service at the church.
