Kirby Watts, age 76, of Nakina, NC died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in his residence. He was born March 4, 1945 on the family farm in Columbus County, NC to the late Kirby Franklin Watts, Sr. and Allie Mae Redwine Watts. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Norma Watts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Hilda Reaves Watts of the home, his son, Kirby Clint Watts (Kristen) of Tabor City, NC, his daughter, Angela "DeeDee" White (Mitchell) of Whiteville, NC, his grandchildren, Kannon White, Kasen Watts and Ashlyn Watts, his brother, Robert Watts (Sarah) of Nakina, NC, his sisters, Retha Pressley of Indian Trail, NC, Elaine Nix (Tommy) of Charlotte, NC, Erma Billings of Charlotte, NC, Sylvia Warren (Buster) of Nakina, NC, Pam Ward (Roger) of Whiteville, NC and Carol Ray (Glenn) of Lake Waccamaw, NC, his brother-in- laws, Stevie Jacobs, Glenn Reaves and Jerry Reaves (Robin) as well as nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
Kirby loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of Nakina Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowship with his church family. Kirby worked hard and sacrificed his whole life to provide for his family. He was a dedicated employee of Ashland Construction Company for more than 30 years where he served as superintendent.
The family will host a time of visitation Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Peacock Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Nakina Baptist Church with Rev. Darryl Hester and Rev. Colton Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in the Watts Family Cemetery.
