Lois Ann Williams Gerald, 87 of Whiteville died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. She was born December 18, 1932 in Clarendon, the daughter of the late Lucian and Linnie Hardee Williams.
Lois graduated from Williams Township High School where she played basketball for four years. She was a graduate of Meredith College where she also played intramural sports and received a BA degree. Lois loved college basketball especially ACC and NCAA playoffs.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she worked in the Children's department as a teacher, director and secretary. She taught Home Economics and Food Service in Chadbourn and Whiteville High Schools.
After 30 years in education, she was Food Service Coordinator for Worsley Oil Co. in Wilmington. Lois and son , Alan owned and operated Dale's Seafood in Whiteville. She was a member of the Chadbourn Business and Professional Woman's Club, the NC Retired School Personnel and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alene Long.
She is survived by her son, Alan Gerald of Lake Waccamaw; a daughter, Anne Gerald of Raleigh; three sisters, Carrie Bullock of Little River, SC, Naomi Ward of Tabor City and JoAnne Formyduval of Whiteville; two grandchildren, Peyton and Blake Gerald.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church by Rev. Stephen Bailey and Rev. Randy Speight. Burial will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.
