Louise was a life-long learner.  She graduated from Hallsboro High School in 1948. She was valedictorian of her class and was awarded the coveted Citizenship Cup for scholastic excellence and school spirit.  She worked for many years as bookkeeper at Leder Bros. Department Stores in Clinton and Whiteville.  After the death of her husband, Milton at a young age, Louise attended Southeastern Community College and UNC Pembroke, earning a degree in education.  She taught two years at Waccamaw Academy and junior high math and science in the Whiteville City Schools for twenty one.  She loved her students and was devoted to their learning and achieving all that they could.  She took them on many educational field trips, making sure that every student was included.

Throughout her adult life, Louise was a member of Whiteville United Methodist Church.  On Sunday mornings, Louise, Milton and their three sons were always seated with the family on the "Worthington Pews".  Louise taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and led women's groups.  She was a faithful member and attended as long as her health allowed.

Traveling, gardening, playing her piano and cooking for her family were her hobbies.  Her yard in Baldwin Woods was always beautiful, especially in the spring when the many azaleas, cherry trees, bulbs and other plants were in bloom.

Louise will be missed by her family and  friends.  Her's was a life well lived with grace, humility and service.
