Lynda Jacobs Obituary

Lynda Faye Freeman Jacobs, 77, of Bolton, NC, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 18, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville, NC. Those who knew Lynda were privileged to witness a life wholly surrendered to Christ—a life where love was not simply spoken, but lived, poured out, and faithfully given to others. Her love for Christ was the underlying current of Lynda’s existence, and her steadfast communion with Jesus Christ was the compass by which she lived.

Lynda possessed a true servant’s heart, first evident in her home, where she lived out her faith through unwavering devotion and sacrifice for her family during their illnesses. As a devoted deacon’s wife, Lynda walked faithfully beside her husband in service to their church and community. Their partnership, rooted firmly in Christ, reflected unity, humility, and resolute dedication to God’s work. Lynda supported him, often working behind the scenes through prayer, hospitality, encouragement, and acts of service—never seeking recognition, but consistently reflecting Christ in every detail.

With a willing spirit, Lynda taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, and created spaces where people could gather, connect, and grow in their faith. She had a gift for making others feel comfortable, and through that, she guided many toward a closer relationship with Christ. She was also incredibly talented, using her creativity to bring beauty into the lives of others. From quilting and teaching to cooking and floral design, everything she touched carried a sense of care and intention. Her work was never just about the task—it was about the people she was serving. While Lynda had a captive audience, she shared the love of Christ with all who would listen. The bond she formed with her final class grew into a lasting fellowship that extended far beyond the classroom.

Many people came to her for advice, sometimes not quite knowing why, but it was the Spirit of God within her that made her so comforting and her words so powerful. She spent so many hours helping others, always guiding them back to Christ, never wanting to be praised, and always reminding everyone that everything good in her came from the Lord. With patience, wisdom, and kindness, she taught in a way that was both important and lasting—not just by telling lessons, but by living them. She worked hard to create chances for people to connect, bringing others together to build experiences that brought the community closer to Christ. Whether it was tea parties, senior Christmas dinners, or beautifully decorated weddings, she carefully created welcoming places where people felt open and ready to hear God’s Word.

Above all, Lynda’s life was marked by an unwavering, limitless, and overwhelming agape love for her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her heart and the center of her earthly life. She loved them with a depth that cannot be measured—selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. There was no sacrifice too great, no burden too heavy, and no distance too far when it came to those she loved. She covered her family in prayer, lifting each one before the Lord with persistence and faith. Her presence was a refuge—her words brought comfort, her embrace brought peace, and her love brought strength. To be loved by Lynda was to experience a reflection of God’s own love—steadfast, forgiving, and enduring. The legacy she leaves behind is not only found in memories, but in the lives she shaped, the faith she instilled, and the love she so freely gave.

Lynda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Willie Johnson Jacobs; and her parents, Arthur James Freeman and Mildred Bernice Patrick Freeman. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her adored children: daughters, Areda Faye Rogers and husband Edward, and Stephanie Sue Jacobs and husband Henry; and her son, Lazarus James Oxendine. She is also lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family, dear friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her love and faith.

A service to celebrate Lynda’s life will be held on March 24, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon, officiated by Elder Michael Jacobs and Pastor Zachary Jacobs.
