MSGT John Ball, Sr. US Air Force Ret 90, of Nakina died Friday, January 31, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear Care Center. He was born July 24, 1929 in Madison County, son of the late Pearson and Nettie Ball.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. John was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church. He was a Dock Association Ramp and Rails Volunteer, VFW Member, American Legion Member and was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen Ball, David Ball, Richard Ball and Marvin Ball; sisters, Belva Ball and Emma Pons.
He is survived by his wife, Judith W. Ball of the home; son, John F. Ball, Jr. and wife, Chrystal of Nakina; daughter, Janet F. Hewett and husband, Greg of Nakina; six grandchildren, Andrew Hewett and wife, Sarah, Amanda Thomas and husband, Spencer, Alex Liao and husband, Daniel, Emma Ball and Fiancé, Austin, Ashley Hewett and Pearson Ball; four great grandchildren, Emilee Hewett, Ashlynn Hewett, Luke Hewett and Kyle Hewett.
His funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 3, 2020, at the Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Roberson officiating.
Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Peacock Funeral Home.
