She received her associate RN degree in 1992 from Southeastern Community College and worked for many years at Southeastern Regional Center in Lumberton, NC. She retired to take care of her husband, William “Bill” James Cox (deceased 2002).

She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Cox (Chuck) and Darlynne Dix. She has two granddaughters, Elizabeth Selens (Ryan) and Rachel Clough, and two great grandsons, Nolan and Weston Clough, sister, Erma Roland, as well as her dear friend Ken Brewer.
