Margaret Smith Obituary

Margaret Metts Smith (Pumpkin) 85, of Delco passed on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at her home.  She was born January 14, 1936 in Jones County, NC the daughter of the late Joseph Martin Metts and Hattie Mae Jarman Metts. She was the widow of the late Golden Frederick Smith who preceded her in death on February 17, 2021. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis James Smith, a baby girl daughter, brothers, Ivey Metts, Gene Metts and  Frank Metts; sisters, Hilda Futrell, Faye Heath, and Gladys Metts.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory F. Smith of Delco, Gary F. Smith and wife, Susie of Riegelwood; two daughters, Melanie Trexler and fiance, Daniel Ferrell of Leland, Melissa Skipper and husband, Richard of Castle Hayne; five brothers, Nelson Metts and wife, Melba of Trenton, Sidney Metts and wife, Lucy of Pollocksville, Carlton Metts and wife, Anne of New Bern, Bruce Metts and wife, Thelma of New Bern, Ray Metts of New Bern; grandchildren, Geremie Smith and wife Amanda, Stormie Smith, Timothy Smith, Brad Smith and wife, Dana, LeAnne Davis and husband, Luke, Alexander Trexler, Thomas Trexler, Jessica Trexler, Whitney Sasser and husband, Chad,  Richard Skipper; great grandchildren, Summer Smith, Kailey Smith, Easton Smith, Sadie Smith, Bowdie Sasser, Cole Davis, Brooklyn Davis and Kynlie Scott.

Her funeral service will  be at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Delco with Rev. Ruffin Hill, Rev. Tommy McCluskie and Dr. Marjorie Roberson officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Smith, Geremie Smith, Brad Smith, Thomas Trexler, Richard Skipper and Chad Sasser

Visitation will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 2, 2o21 at the church.
