Marshall Howard Ward Jr., 54, of Whiteville, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on June 10, 2026.

Born on January 18, 1972, Marshall was the beloved son of Rita Reaves (Thomas) and the late Marshall Howard Ward Sr. He was a man who loved his family deeply and never met a stranger. Known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and love of racing, Marshall enjoyed spending time with those he cared about and making lasting memories with family and friends.

Marshall was preceded in death by his wife, Dana Childress Ward; father, Marshall Howard Ward Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Marshall Haig Ward and Nora Mae Ward; and his maternal grandmother, Ruby Mae McLamb-Reaves.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Rita Reaves (Thomas); his stepson, Bradley Wessman (Kelly); his sisters, Melissa Mitchell (Mark), Suzanne Ward, and Crystal LeAnne McLamb; and his brothers Christopher Ward (Adolfa).

He was also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind seven nieces, six nephews, twelve great-nieces and great-nephews, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the time they shared with him.

Marshall's love for racing, his generous spirit, and the joy he brought to others will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on through the family and friends who loved him, and the countless memories they will carry in their hearts.

The family appreciates the prayers, love, and support shown during this time as they celebrate Marshall's life and honor his memory.

His funeral service will be Tuesday 6/16/2026 at 11:00 am at Peacock Funeral Home, by Rev. Danny Williams. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Peacock Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Jennies Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at their home during this time.
