Marvin Lee Council Obituary
Mr. Marvin Lee Council, aged 91, of Lake Waccamaw, NC passed away peacefully at the West Bladen Assisted Living in Bladenboro, NC on Thursday, May 7, 2026. He was born on February 20, 1935 in Columbus County to the late Jesse Marvin Council and Sallie White Council. Marvin Lee was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings, 2 sisters, Brenda Mae Council and Betty Starling, 2 brothers, Benny Ray Council and James Lloyd Council.
Marvin Lee, as he was known, was a devoted Christian and a member of Hallsboro Baptist Church where he was also an usher. For employment he worked in the family business, Council’s Fishing Resort located at Dupree Landing in Lake Waccamaw, NC for nearly 50 years. One of Marvin Lee’s duties was pumping gas out on the pier to the boaters enjoying Lake Waccamaw. Many folks remember him to this day from the conversations he had with them while he pumped their gas.
He is survived by his brother, Paul Thomas Council of Hallsboro, NC, 5 nephews, Jimmy Council of Granite Falls, NC, Mark Council of Surf City, NC, Garrett Starling of Fayetteville, NC, James Starling of Fayetteville, NC, Timothy Starling of Roanoke, VA as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Hallsboro Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Lewis Officiating. Burial will be held at Pierce Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior at the Church.
