Mrs. Merie Jacobs Spaulding 80, of Bolton passed on Monday, January 11, 2021 peacefully at her home. She was born September 11, 1940 in Columbus County, NC the daughter of Sylvester Jacobs and Sarah Jane Freeman Jacobs.
Mrs. Spaulding was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as treasurer of the Senior Citizen's Sunday School Class. She was formerly employed with Tops Tobacco Co. for eight years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Monroe Spaulding; two sons, William Mark Sutherland and wife, Carol of Bolton, James Dale Sutherland of Bolton; three brothers, Durkie Jacobs and wife, Paula of Clarkton, Donald H. Jacobs and wife, Debra of Bolton, Ralph D. Jacobs and wife, Rose of Bolton; five sisters, Delphie Jacobs Patrick and husband, Luther "Doc" of Bolton, Christine Jacobs Patrick of Bolton, Mary Jacobs Mitchell and husband, Frank of Bolton, Pearleen Jacobs Simmons of Clinton, Linda Jacobs Freeman and husband, Peter of Bolton; grandchildren, Bailey Sutherland, Cheyenne Sutherland, Matthew Sutherland, Noah Sutherland, Coty Sutherland and wife, Shannon, Dustin Sutherland; great grandchildren, Jaxson, Oliver, Liam and Jameson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Velma Jacobs and Roberta Jacobs , a grandson, Alex Sutherland.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2021 New Hope Baptist Church in Bolton by Rev. Don Carter, Rev. Sammy Jacobs and Rev. Priscilla Jacobs. Viewing will be at the church from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to her service. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Jones, Rick Spaulding, John Jacobs, Chris Jacobs, Heath Jacobs, Logan Jacobs, Brent Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Jacobs, Stevie Jacobs, Delton Jacobs and Blake Freeman.
