Myra (Hewett) Chestnutt

Myra Lynne Hewett Chestnutt 72, of Tabor City passed on Sunday, March 24, 2024 in McLeod Seacoast Medical Center  in Little River, SC. She was born August 15, 1951, the daughter of the late Winfred Hewett and Vada Simmons Hewett.

She was a graduate of  West Brunswick High School; a former Miss Brunswick County and former Miss Congeniality in the Miss NC Pageant. She was an avid Go Cart racer.  Myra graduated form UNC Pembroke University with a bachelors degree in special education. She was a loving wife and mother who was dedicated to her family and serving her Lord.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Stocks (Wendy) of Whiteville; stepson, Brian Chestnutt (Angie) of Pireway; two step daughters, Tabatha Miller of Georgia and Rebecca Cribb (Chris) of Beaverdam; a brother, Mike Hewett of Ash; a sister, Mary Chavis of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Olivia Stocks and Abbigail Stocks; step grandchildren, McKenzie Chestnutt, Bailey Chestnutt,  Gracen Miller and Jenna Cribb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Chestnutt , her parents; a brother, Benny Prevatte; sisters, Sandra Whaley and Denise Canady.

A private service will be held at New Britton Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
