Naomi Shelley Hinson, 98, passed away peacefully Monday, April 22, 2024. Born August 24, 1925, Naomi was the daughter of Henry Patrick Shelley and Willie Watson Shelley in Green Sea, S.C. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Edgar Haynes Hinson; and her son, Carroll Wayne Hinson. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; Watson Shelley, Mildred Enzor, Victor Shelley, Joe Shelley and their spouses.

Mrs. Hinson was a retired teacher, farmer/gardener and homemaker. She served her church as a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director and choir member, as well as numerous other positions. She loved her God, her church, her family, friends and her students.

Her funeral service will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 at New Hope Baptist Church at 11:00am  with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Shelley Renee Hinson; daughter-in-law, Susan Hinson; step-grandson, John Way; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Hilliard; step great-grandson, Rodney Way; step-great granddaughter, Ashley Hilliard; Shelley's parents, Charlie and Sylvia Patton; sister-in-law, Angie Hinson; as well as numerous special nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church or Community Life Center @ New Hope Baptist Church, 252 Rough and Ready Rd Whiteville, NC 28472. The family would like to thank the staff at Liberty Commons for their loving care and support throughout her illness. We would also like to thank the Liberty Hospice team for their care and support during this time.
