Patricia Ann Powell, 82, of Chadbourn passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 2, 2026. She was born January 22, 1943 and adopted by her grandparents the late George Oliver Hardie and Flora Ophelia Nobles Hardie.
At a young age she attended and played piano at White Marsh Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Whiteville. After marriage to her husband Rev. Jerry Earl Powell she became a long time member of Spring Branch Holiness Church. She was a pianist, Sunday School Teacher, youth leader and held many offices in the church. Along with her husband, they did mission work in Haiti and Dominican Republic since 1974. She was a loving wife, a precious mother, and the best Grandmother. She was also a spiritual influencer and advisory to many family and friends throughout the US, Dominican Republic and Haiti.
She is survived by her son, Mark Powell (Kathy) of Chadbourn; daughter, Sabrina Grant (Marty) of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Kevin Powell, Lisa Powell, Emily Cartrette, Natalie Memory, Kimberly Hunt, Ryan Powell, Nicole Burkhalter, Mike Powell, Jessie Powell, Chris Powell, Emily Grant and twenty Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Jerry Powell; her grandparents; her sons, Michael Powell, Timmy Powell; her brother, Douglas Eugene Hardie.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Peacock Funeral Home's Chapel with the Rev. Larry Dyer and Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Peacock Funeral Home.
