Peggy Lee Lewis Obituary
Peggy Lee Lewis, 88, of Lake Waccamaw, N.C. passed on May 24, 2026 at her home. She was born on February 12, 1938 in Charlotte, N.C., the daughter of the late H.B. (Bill) Helms and Retha Mae Helms.
She is survived by sons Danny Lewis (Rhonda) of Hallsboro, NC. and Mark Lewis of Louisiana; daughters Retha Lee Chestnut of Hallsboro, NC, Edna Ann Lewis of Tennessee, Audrey Lewis of Lumberton, NC and Gene Gore of Lake Waccamaw, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren Dannette Lewis King, Doug Jordan, Matthew Lewis, Chris Jordan and 10 great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by brothers Joe Clifton Swaringen, Jack Harry Swaringen, Thomas T. Swaringen and Gene Murry Swaringen all of Lake Lure, NC., Marvin J. Layton and Joel Barnard Layton of Charlotte, NC and sister Catherine Swaringen of Greensboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Kingdom Place Church, P.O. Box 3771, Lumberton, NC 28358.
A graveside memorial service will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 29, 2026 in Columbus Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Bailey Weeks and Rev. Gary Strickland.
