Phillip Stevens Obituary

Phillip Rodney Stevens, 83, of Whiteville, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at home. He was born September 22, 1941, to Hubert Rodney Stevens and Myrtle Ward Stevens.


Phil, affectionately named Tank, was a standout athlete at Whiteville High School and played football at Chowan College. After college, Phil briefly worked at National Spinning Company and Singletary Wholesale. For 57 years, he owned and operated 701 Service Center.


He is survived by his wife, Martha Blackwell Stevens, of the home; sons Brandon Stevens of Raleigh and Matthew Stevens of Whiteville; grandchildren Savannah Grace Stevens and Jackson Phillip Stevens; and sister Phyllis Newman of Albuquerque, NM.


He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Stevens and sister Patrica Ivey.


His funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel.


His family will receive friends before the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community CPR at 210 E. Walter Street, Whiteville, NC.
