Ray Jacobs Obituary

Mr. Elton Ray Jacobs 72, of the Buckhead community, Bolton passed on Sunday, March 15, 2026 . He was born April 8, 1953 in Columbus County the son of the late Roscoe Jacobs, Sr. and Ella Marie Brewington Jacobs.


He was a man whose life was rooted in service, leadership and a deep love of his community and people. In 1975 he helped establish the Buckhead Volunteer Fire Dept. & Rescue Squad, Inc. where he remained Administrative Chief until  present.  He was a proud member of the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe serving his people in multiple capacities such as Honorary Member of Phi Sigma Nu fraternity, member of NC Indian Housing Authority and member of the NC Commission of Indian affairs.


He is survived by his wife, Ellon Jacobs; children, Ray Jacobs, Jr. and Reah Jacobs; grandchildren, Alina B. Freeman, Landon Brewer, Gage Jacobs, siblings, Sammie Jacobs, Jacqueline J. Young, James Carl Jacobs.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roscoe Jacobs, Jr., an aunt, Jesse M. Delaney. 


His funeral service will be 3:00 pm Friday, March 20, 2026 at New Hope Baptist Church with Elder Michael Jacobs and Pastor Zachary Jacobs officiating.  Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery. His family will receive friends 5:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Peacock Funeral Home.
