Ray Stocks

Mr. Ray Stocks, age 85, of Nakina, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 in Lower Cape Fear LifeCare’s Angel House. He was born September 27, 1936 in Columbus County, the son of the late Matthew Gaston and Oneta Formyduval Stocks.

He retired from the Columbus County School System having served 28 years and was a member of Palmyra Missionary Baptist Church. He was a farmer, fisherman and father figure to many.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Stocks; his two brothers, Ottoway Stocks and his wife, Sena of Nakina, Jack Stocks and his wife, Susan of Burgaw; his sister, Sally Batten and her husband, Earl of Hillard, FL; his granddaughter, Raven Williamson and her husband, Ryan of Nakina; his great-grandchildren, Savannah Williamson and Alexis Williamson of Nakina and his foster child, Heidi Duncan of Whiteville.

The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Peacock Funeral Home.

His graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Formyduval Cemetery with Reverends John Robertson and Jeff Stocks officiating.
