Rev. Jimmie Ray Tatum 71, of Lake Waccamaw passed on February 17, 2023 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born April 2nd 1951 in Bladen County.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Stephens Tatum; two daughters, Anna Baker and Husband, Andrew of Shallotte, Amanda Stanley and husband, Shane of Ocean Isle Beach; grandchildren, Michael Baker, Sophia Stanley and Matthew Stanley.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Willard Tatum, Grady C. Tatum and Ruthie Mae McMillan.
He is remembered by his siblings; Marvin Tatum wife, Nancy, Sandra Stanley, Sarah Bourbeau, G.C. Tatum and wife, Sandra, Ed Tatum and wife, Pam, as well as all of his nieces and nephews.
He is also remembered by close friends that he considered family; Delmus and Cathy Locklear, Ivey Locklear, Benji Cole and Family, Mike and Pat Sykes, Ashley Snipes and Family.
He graduated from East Bladen in 1969, South Eastern Community College, UNCW and Duke Divinity School.
In his 47 years of Ministry, he served The United Methodist Conference in several churches; Zion, Shiloh, Phillips Chapel, Cedar Grove, Lillington, Smyrna, Camp, Chestnut Street, Erwin, Parkers Grove, Oleander, Carver’s Creek.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Carver’s Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Casteel and Rev. Francis Daniel officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends 12:30 – 1:45 pm Tuesday, prior to his service at Carver’s Creek United Methodist Church.
