SPC Samuel Lee Vetrano, Sr. 75, of Tabor City died Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Conway Medical Center. He was born August 21, 1944 in Habersham County the son of the late Frank and Grace Waldrup Vetrano.
Sam grew up in Queens, New York where he attended school and met the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Barbara. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He had an extensive career as an Auto Technician and Manager of an Auto Dealership. He was most recently a member of Antioch Baptist Church and previously served as an Ordained Deacon at Iron Hill Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish. Mr. Vetrano was very patriotic, a man who loved his country and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Vetrano.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Irwin Vetrano of the home; sons, Samuel Lee Vetrano, II and wife, Kristy of Montgomery, AL, Steven Mark Vetrano and wife, Melissa of Whiteville, Brian Douglas Vetrano and wife, Cynthia of Smithfield, NC; eight grandchildren, Zachary Lovett, Jordan Vetrano, Noah Vetrano, Brandon Vetrano, Cailee Vetrano, Hannah Vetrano, Mallory Vetrano, Brian Vetrano, II; brother, Joseph Vetrano and wife, Malinda of Cornelia, GA; sister, Linda Vetrano Rejowski and husband, Bob of New Jersey.
His memorial service with Military Honors will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hardee & Rev. Tom Gore officiating.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to his memorial service.
