Mrs. Sara Naron 87. of Whiteville passed on Monday February 16, 2026 in Shoreland Healthcare. She was born in Columbus County the daughter of the late Bailey and Effie Mae Struthers Ward. She was the widow of the late Robert Naron and was preceded in death by their daughter, Cynthia Strickland.
Sara loved her family, including her grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family, all of whom were her pride and joy. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and enjoyed "cutting up" with everyone she met - never meeting a stranger. She enjoyed attending church and loved Jesus. She would be the first one to tell you that prayer changes things. She also loved singing with The Joyful Messengers, a ministry she faithfully served for 30 years. Her family would like to send heart felt thanks to the Shoreland team for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided, as well as the Liberty Hospice team for their dedication and support. |They are also grateful to each and every person who helped care for her. She loved you all.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Thompson and husband, Charles of Evergreen, NC; a brother, Bob Ward and wife, Janice of |Whiteville; grandchildren, Chassika Carter (Jason), Tabitha Rhodes (Matthew); great grandchildren, Jada Wilson (Cameron), Bryleigh Carter, Bailey Rhodes and Daylon Carter.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday. February 19, 2026 at Columbus Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. David Kelly officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
Her family will receive friends 10:00 - 11:00 am at Peacock Funeral Home.
