Sylvia (Tedder) Elkins

Sylvia Tedder Elkins 65, of Whiteville passed on Friday, March 18, 2022.  She was born August 26, 1956 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Maxie Drexel "Dick" Tedder and Mollie Stevens Tedder.

Sylvia received a Bachelors Degree from UNCW in K - 6 Education,  a Masters Degree in Library Science from ECU and a second Masters Degree in K- 6 Reading Education from UNC Pembroke. She was a classroom teacher and librarian at Edgewood Elementary School for twenty-eight years.  After retirement, she was the librarian in the Marion County, SC schools for ten years.

She is survived by a son, Eric A. Elkins and wife, Alicia of Whiteville; a daughter, Dr. Anna Elkins Smyth and husband, Dr. Michael of Whiteville; a brother, David Tedder and wife, Meredith, of Whiteville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Hal and Ty Tedder.

Her funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Columbus Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends  6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Peacock Funeral Home.
