Theodore (Ted) Clarke

Theodore (Ted) R. Clarke 79, of Lake Waccamaw, NC died Monday, October 15, 2018.  He was born on July 30, 1939 in Fayette County, Ohio, son of the late William and Anna Lois Woodmansee Clarke.  

Ted was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and was a Chemical Engineer within the paper industry for many years. His most recent employment was as a Door Greeter at Walmart where he got to know and love the citizens of Columbus County.  He was on the Board of Directors for the Lake Waccamaw Food Pantry and a member of the Take the Lake Organizing Committee.  He was a member of the Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Bell Choir.  He was an accomplished woodworker - many pieces that he built by hand will be with us forever.  He loved to fish, ride his bike, and watch his favorite sports teams compete.  

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Maureen Smith Clarke; two sons, Jeffery A. Clarke and wife, Melodie of Lake Waccamaw, Jay C. Clarke and partner, Shawn of Chicago, IL; a daughter, Janice A. Clarke of Singapore; sister, Betty Tracewell and husband, Larry of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Clarke; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned by his family at  2:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church.  His family will receive friends 1:00 - 2:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the church.
