Ms. Velma Long Hilburn 70, of Whiteville went to her heavenly home Wednesday, January 29, 2020. She was born July 19, 1949 the daughter of the late Henry Arthur Long and Estelle Barefoot Long.
She was the Co-Pastor of Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Whiteville for twenty-two years. She was a former member of the Women’s Aglow. She was a loving, caring, awesome wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She cared for her husband for many years during his time of sickness and was an excellent and loving caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, W. C. Hilburn, parents and two sisters, Peggy Fowler and Judy Long.
She is survived by a son, Dawayne Hilburn and wife, Amy of Whiteville; a daughter, Trina Coleman and husband, Douglas of Whiteville; grandchildren, Tina Nicholson and husband, Jason, Doug Coleman, D. J. Hilburn and wife, Christian, Chad Hilburn and fiancé, Lindsey; great grandchildren, Tessa Nicholson, Carrie Nicholson, Jadon Nicholson, Brynleigh Coleman, Aaliyah Hilburn, Weslynn Hilburn and Grayson Coleman; two sisters, Janice Davis and husband, Wilton of Nakina, Hazel Nance of Whiteville.
Her funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Tommy Bryson. Burial will be in the Cribb-Long Cemetery in Nakina.
Her family will receive friends 6:30–8:30 pm Friday, January 31, 2020 at Peacock Funeral Home.
