Virginia Bellucci Obituary

 Virginia Bellucci peacefully passed on Saturday October 10, 2020 while in Hospice Care.  She was born in Rodio (SA) Italy on the 24th of August 1922. She was the daughter of the late Teresa and Vito DiBello who had ten children and lived off the land, selling olive oil and wine.

She married Nicola Bellucci, an American citizen, and came to the US in 1951.  They had a daughter, Mary Jo Bellucci who preceded her in death.  Also preceding her in death was her husband, Nicola and step children, Nick Bellucci, Rose Jackson, Grace Uttaro and Anthony Bellucci.

Virginia worked at Hickey Freeman in Rochester, NY for 37 years.  She moved to Whiteville with her sister, Rita Proia and brother-in-law, Angelo.  She is survived by them and their children, her nephew and nieces, John Proia, Lucy Wellmaker,  Ellen Lawson and Gina DeBruhl.  She is also survived by countless other nieces and nephews in Italy.

When she moved to Whiteville, she began volunteering as a food server at the Senior Center. She was loved by everyone who came in touch with her.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ladies Club.

There will be a graveside service presided by Father Joseph Yaeger at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to  Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 302 N. Lee Street, Whiteville, NC 28472.
