Virginia Cartrette Obituary

Virginia Dare Creech Cartrette, 84, of Whiteville, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022. She was born in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Lee Byron and Julia Rebecca Creech. She was the widow of the late Jerry Fredrick Cartrette.

She is survived by two daughters, Sophia Cartrette and fiance, Jamie Townsend of Whiteville and Jerri Lynn Cartrette of Ocean Isle Beach; a sister, Rose Hinson and husband, Devon of Chadbourn; four grandchildren, Joshua Priest, Andrew Priest, Jerri Ann Cartrette and Lexie Greene; six great grandchildren, Joshua Priest II, Grace Priest, Haedyn Priest, Ava Dare Priest, Isaiah Lovette and Lenore Lovette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a grandson, LCPL Floyd Gregg Cartrette, five brothers, Stephen Creech, Woodell Creech, Bobby Creech, MacArthur Creech and Fred Creech, two sisters, Maggie Cartrette and Viola Cartrette.

Graveside service will be conducted 3:00 pm Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Creech Cemetery in Whiteville.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Peacock Funeral Home.
