Willard White Obituary

James Willard White went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family.  He was born March 28, 1939 in Columbus County to C. Raymond White and Leona Gore White.  He sadly lost his mother at the age of three, but the Lord blessed him with another loving mother, Lillian Norris White.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elroy White, Ray White and Dale White along with a sister, Hilda Gray Mosbey and a infant granddaughter, Kimberly Sabrina Ward.

Willard was a life long member of Antioch Baptist Church in Whiteville, NC where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir director as well as many other positions throughout the years.

In 1959 he married his wife of 62 years, Luvina Duncan White.  He raised his family and was a life long farmer in the Antioch community.  

Once retired, Willard enjoyed spending time with his family  He enjoyed the outdoors while hunting, fishing and enjoying the company of those at the fox pens.  His life's passion was sharing with those around him the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife, Luvina Duncan White; a son Mitchell White and wife Dee Dee of Whiteville; three daughters, Kim Ward and husband, George, Terry McPherson and husband, Mark, Tonia Hurley and husband, David all of Whiteville; two brothers, Charles White and wife, Rosalie of Burgaw and Jerome White and wife Rosa of Clarkton; a sister , Alice Lane of Liberty, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Ward Campau(Chris), James McPherson (Anna), Jeremy Ward (Katie), Jacob Hurley, Kelly McPherson Hendrickson (Tyler), Kannon White; great grandchildren, Hayesly McPherson, Laurel Campau, Griffin McPherson.

His funeral service will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Hardee. Burial will be in the Old Zion Cemetery. The family requests masks and social distancing at the service.

The family would like to thank Liberty Hospice and Home Care and special care giver, Emma Ward as well as Dr. Richard Flemming along with many friends and family for their thoughts and prayers through the years.
