William "Herb" Smith Obituary

Mr. William "Herb" Smith 72, of Nakina passed on Sunday April 2, 2023 in McLeod Seacoast Hospital, in Little River, SC.  He was born in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late William Edward Smith and Gloria Potter Smith.

He was a graduate of Whiteville High School. Herb served with the Whiteville Police Department for 15 years until retirement. He was an Officer, Sergeant and Detective during his time there. He worked for Security Management of SC at Loris Hospital for 7 years.  He attended Seven Creeks Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Faulk Smith; a son, Aaron Stanley of Whiteille; a daughter,  Heather Smith (Matthew Ward ) of Elizabethtown; a brother, Jeff Smith of Moneta, VA; a sister, Sharon Prevatte of Wilmington; grandchildren, Laine Stanley and Ember Ward; several nieces and nephews and his two special girls Maddy and Ella Watson; his Furbaby, Jax.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Layla Moorhead.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Seven Creeks Baptist Church by Rev. Mark Hughes and Rev. Joe Turner.  His family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Peacock Funeral Home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  

Serving as pallbearers will be Warren Faulk, Chris Faulk, Bobby Faulk, William Faulk, John Robert Faulk, and Nick Watson.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be former and current Whiteville Police Department Fellow Brothers in Blue.
