A. D. and Kathel Lee Peacock founded Peacock Funeral Home in 1938.  A.D. was a graduate of Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science and held NC Embalmer License No. 2.  He was founder and first director of Boy's & Girl's Homes of NC, Lake Waccamaw, NC.  Their son, Don T. Peacock, Sr. & wife, Peggy operated the business after A.D.'s retirement.  Since Don's death in 1991, his sons, D. Craig Peacock and Kyle G. Peacock with their mother, Peggy Peacock have operated the business.  Son, Dr. Don T. Peacock, Jr. is also an officer in the company.
