                  Clarence Levon "Tommy" Tyler

Mr. Tommy Tyler, 80, of Lake Waccamaw died Thursday, April 28, 2016 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Whiteville. He was born October 12, 1935 in Horry County, the son of H.T. and Elvie Coats Tyler.

Mr. Tyler graduated from Loris High School and Miller Motte College. He was owner/operator of Columbus Apparel before his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw where he served as assistant Sunday School director, served on various committees and was the chairman of the Family Life Center. He served 48 years in the Lions Club, holding various titles throughout his tenure. He always looked forward to the Lions birthday calendars.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Prince Tyler, son, Russell Tyler and wife, Janet of Lake Waccamaw; daughters, Kathy Jackson and husband, Jimmy of Lake Waccamaw, Melody McLamb and husband, Nicky of Lake Waccamaw; sister, Ernestine Canady of Wilmington; grandchildren, Jana Tyler Gibson, Hyland Tyler, Cortney McLamb, Nicholas McLamb, Kaitlin Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo Tyler and Vernie Tyler.

His funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw by the Reverends Ken Hardee, Dale Tanner, and Richard Wade. Burial will be in Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery.

His family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Larry Tyler, Bobby Jordan, Mike Garrell, Rocky Coffman, Joe Floyd, and Jimmy Rogers.
